The Legend

Only a few fishermen have actually seen the frogfish. It is said to be so ugly that it leaves men speechless from horror. This fish likes to swim where there are people to frighten. However, it has not bitten anyone. The reason people get so scared when meeting one is because it is an extremely grotesque fish.

Generally, alternative tourism sites are attractive focal points in themselves, such as museums. Some sites are so special and vulnerable that the number of visitors is very limited. Government regulations NOM-09-TUR-2002 and NOM-08-TUR-200 establish the guidelines for visiting these sites. For others, special visitor permits from CONANP, SEMARNAT, or INAH are required.

There are 104 recorded species of sharks in the Gulf of Mexico, and Baja California has one of the best places in the world to dive with sharks: Cabo Pulmo.
