The word ‘ama’ means ‘Lady in Charge.’ The AMA Foundation works to represent the ocean as an entity to be respected and cared for, so she in turn can continue to do her own magnificent job.
On November 11, 2019, the international launch of the AMA Foundation was held in Nicksan Palmilla.
AMA works to improve, protect and save our oceans, while creating an ecological environment in Baja California Sur. Sonia Falcone is the founder and president of the AMA Foundation. The executive committee includes the renowned designer, Tamara Ralph, and the super model Christina Estrada, as well as the royal highnesses Prince Charles Philippe and Princess Diana of Orleans, Dukes of Anjou and Cadaval.
Registered in Mexico and the United States, with the mission of marine conservation in Baja, AMA will financially support marine conservation partners already in place and spread awareness of the crucial work underway. AMA plans to focus on Baja starting with the waters of the Sea of Cortez where many of the world’s whales migrate annually to reproduce.
Without culture and without values, we would have nothing as a society. This is why it is so important for the AMA foundation to work together to generate a sense of responsibility towards the Earth and to educate children and others about how important it is to take care of the only planet we have.
Nicksan has a commitment to the community, has always participated in events and programs. In this regard, Ángel Carbajal stated: “We are excited to collaborate with AMA. The sustainability and responsible use of ocean resources is the backbone of Nicksan’s values.”
If you are a nature lover, but, above all, from Baja California Sur, please join the daily efforts save the oceans and the life within them. So, how can you help from where you are? Or even better, how can you support the AMA foundation?
The first gala dinner organized by the AMA Foundation was held last November 15 at Las Ventanas al Paraiso, a Rosewood Resort.
The beautiful, iconic hotel gathered personalities from the Los Cabos society. The occasion merited the lovely venue. Las Ventanas al Paraiso is recognized for its charitable work and community support. As a result, “Jewels of the Sea” served as the beginning of an extensive conservation program run by Sonia Falcone and joined by companies and local leaders.
During the evening presentations, there was a surprise appearance by Bolivian singer and actor Milton Cortez.
The sponsors included the restaurant Nicksan, as well as Daniel Espinosa and Gregorio Sanchez. Mexico’s military band, War Band, provided a spectacular start to the night before Chad Corvey led a dazzling live auction.
In addition, representatives of all foundations related to marine conservation supported by AMA attended and a good sum was raised to get the work started for the new year.
The foundation is already planning the 2020 Gala. Look for news soon!
