To strengthen its leadership as a destination of excellence in the meetings industry, Los Cabos hosted the CAB 2025 Summit, an exclusive event organized in collaboration with the Client Advisory Council of PCMA (Professional Convention Management Association). This strategic meeting brought together leading members of the Los Cabos Meetings Industry Cluster and key players in the destination’s value chain, including hotels, DMCs, and service providers.
Los Cabos has positioned itself as a benchmark in Mexico’s industry of meetings and internationally. Over time, its participation in the CAB Summit has reinforced its role as a strategic destination, driving innovation and fostering collaboration between the sector’s key players.
During the Summit, various activities were designed to promote innovation, the professionalization of the sector and its economic impact on the region. Among the main actions were the following:
- Success stories panels on talent, social responsibility and sustainability.
- Strategic mentoring is focused on strengthening the implementation of projects in the destination.
- Commitments to action to foster the growth of the sector in partnership with the local community and value chain.
With a meetings industry that represents 10.7% of tourism activity in Baja California Sur, generates more than 13,000 jobs, and contributes $10,084 million pesos to the state’s GDP, the Los Cabos Meetings Industry Cluster has consolidated its work on five strategic pillars: leadership and governance, professionalization of the sector, community involvement, sustainability and collaboration, and innovation.
Rodrigo Esponda, Director General of the Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA), highlighted the event’s importance: “The CAB 2025 Summit has been a key platform to consolidate our vision of sustainable growth and innovation in the meetings industry. Thanks to the participation of national and international leaders, we have generated strategies that will strengthen the competitiveness of Los Cabos as a high-level events destination.”
“The Summit represents a key strategy to strengthen the development of the meetings industry, with the participation of 12 national and international leaders, who share best practices and their vision to accelerate the evolution of the meetings destination. It generates strategic conversations on the impact and development of the cluster model, both in Mexico and globally,” added Rodrigo Esponda.
Key initiatives under development include the Ambassador Programme, aimed at talent management in the industry, and the Community Awareness Campaign, which aims to reinforce Los Cabos’s perception as a premier venue for corporate events, incentives, and conventions.
The collaboration between the public and private sectors has been fundamental to the success of these actions, as well as the recent integration of the Los Cabos Meetings Industry Cluster into the Mexican Meetings Industry Council (COMIR). In addition, strategic alliances have been established with national and international organizations to enhance the destination’s competitiveness.
By promoting strategies based on research, planning, and continuous improvement, Los Cabos reaffirms its leadership in the meetings industry, consolidating itself as an intelligent, competitive, and sustainable destination at a global level.
