ISan José Jazz Weekend 2025: An international Festival of Music and Culture in Los Cabos

The San José Jazz Weekend International Festival will celebrate its 11th edition on May 23rd and 24th, 2025, in San José del Cabo. It has already become one of the destination’s most relevant cultural events.

The official presentation took place at the Penca restaurant on 9 May at a press conference, where Raquel Rocha, the festival’s General Director, shared details about this edition. The event promises two days of music and culture in San José del Cabo’s hotel zone, with musical activities from 6:00 p.m. until midnight.

Rocha stressed that five groups would perform daily, bringing together local, national, and international talent. Among the prominent names is Japanese pianist Miki Yamanaka, renowned for her brilliant career in the Japanese and New York jazz scenes. “In terms of international talent, we are crossing borders with Miki Yamanaka, a famous and respected pianist,” said Rocha.

With an expected attendance of 5,000 – a figure that has remained constant in recent editions—the festival continues with its mission to be a family and cultural event while seeking to attract more foreign audiences.

During the presentation, Rodrigo Esponda, Director of FITURCA, underlined the importance of these events for the destination: “According to our most recent figures, 16% of visitors arrive motivated by events linked to music and the arts”.

Lilzi Orcí, Executive President of the Los Cabos Hotel Association, said:

“For us, it is crucial to support such festivals that are as much for the community as they are for visitors. We especially invite our guests and neighbours to enjoy and feel part of this event, which is already a major destination attraction.”

The 2025 edition will also feature the curatorial direction of Hernán Hecht, Latin Grammy award-winning drummer and producer, who has been instrumental in selecting artists. Among the featured projects are: T’orus, described as one of the most ambitious projects on the current scene, and A Love Electric, an international trio that fuses experimental jazz and psychedelia, with recent performances on European stages, including Amsterdam.

The praesidium of the event was composed of Raquel Rocha, General Director of the festival; Mario Gadsden, Founder of the festival; Edwina Cortés Guitron, Coordinator of Economic Promotion and Investment; Rodrigo Esponda, General Director of FITURCA; Lilzi Orcí, Executive President of the Los Cabos Hotel Association; Hernán Hecht, Artistic Director of the festival; Paulina Villafaña, Los Cabos Municipal Tourism Directorate; Hanna Sachse, representative of the host restaurant, Penca.

Come and let yourself be enveloped by the magic of jazz under the stars of San José del Cabo. Spend two nights appreciating international talent and feeling the rhythm that unites locals and visitors.
