Los Cabos’ Best Paellas Unite for Education

The Los Cabos Rotary Club officially announced the 8th edition of the Los Cabos 2025 Paella Festival. This gastronomic competition, in collaboration with the Los Cabos Hotel Association, brings together the destination’s leading hotels and chefs. The presentation took place during a press conference on Wednesday, May 7th, at the Puerta Vieja restaurant in Cabo San Lucas. It was confirmed that the event will be held on Saturday, May 24th, 2025, at the Hilton Los Cabos Hotel, starting at 2:00 pm.

“We would like to thank our sponsors, all the participating hotels, our fellow Rotarians and friends who are with us today, as well as the media,” said Enrique ‘Kike’ Vasquez, representative of the Rotary Foundation and YEO New Generations, at the start of the event.

This edition invites the community to join in a charitable cause: raising funds for the Rotary Club’s scholarship programme, which supports talented and dedicated young local students. The festival offers an opportunity to enjoy the unique taste of expertly prepared paellas, share moments in excellent company, and, at the same time, help more young people continue their studies and achieve their academic goals.

This festival with a cause aims to strengthen the scholarship programme promoted by the Rotary Club. This initiative supports students from primary school to university, providing them with school supplies, backpacks, and an economic stimulus that allows them to continue their education. It is worth noting that 100% of the funds raised during the festival will be allocated to this programme, which currently benefits 20 young people, with the expectation of continuing to expand its positive impact.

This year’s goal is to sell 300 tickets for 1,300 pesos each. Fourteen hotels in the destination will participate in this edition. We wish them every success and acknowledge their valuable collaboration: The Westin Resort & Spa, Club Cascadas de Baja, Viceroy Los Cabos, Solmar Resort, Bahía Hotel & Beach Club, Casa Dorada Los Cabos Resort & Spa, Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort, Los Cabos Golf Resort, Hyatt Ziva, Marquis, Riu, Paradisus Grand, Grand Fiesta Americana and Krystal Grand Los Cabos.

Among those attending the official presentation were Ana Gabriela Navarro, Director of Municipal Tourism; Héctor Lewis, Director of restaurants at the Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort; and Karina Lizárraga, Coordinator of Mipymes, along with prominent representatives of the tourism sector and the Rotary Club.

During her speech, Lilzi Orcí, Executive President of the Los Cabos Hotel Association, expressed her enthusiasm for this eighth edition, which promotes healthy competition between chefs and hotels and supports a cause that leaves its mark on the community. “It is an event that those of us who live here enjoy, but it also has a real impact: every year, more and more students receive scholarships thanks to the proceeds,” she said. Orcí gave special thanks to the Hilton Los Cabos Hotel for once again hosting the festival and acknowledged the commitment of the participating hotels, whose chefs and teams, he said, “put their shirt on” to offer the best in this day that combines gastronomy, conviviality and solidarity. As an example of the impact, he recalled the case of a scholarship holder who managed to study abroad last year and now returns to contribute his knowledge to the destination.

Linda McHatton, President of the Rotary Club of Los Cabos and organising committee member, thanked the media for their continued support, which helps the festival grow every year. “Thanks to the publicity you give us, this event allows more young people, from elementary school level, to continue their education,” she said. She also extended her appreciation to all the participants and collaborators who make this cause possible, reaffirming the Rotary Club’s commitment to the academic formation of the region’s students.
