Bar Esquina, Templo grill+wok+bar, and Doc Wine Bar welcome Toro Latin Kitchen and Bar by Richard Sandoval. Since its opening at the end of July, Toro has been well received and recognized by the residents and tourists who have made Los Cabos a world-class travel destination. As local restauranteurs, we highly recommend visiting Toro. People who’ve already had the opportunity to visit to Toro on one or more occasions, are invited to come back and enjoy the restaurant’s culinary innovation and one unique ambience. Toro is located at Punta Ballena Resort an “Alhel Group property”, home to Esperanza Hotel.

Toro Latin Kitchen & Bar

The Toro concept comes from acclaimed chef and restaurateur Richard Sandoval, who is known as “the father of the modern Mexican kitchen” and has more than 40 restaurants inspired by Latin American cuisine throughout the world. At Toro, chef César Cervantes masterfully fuses Latin cuisine—known for its unique flavor profiles—with inspiration coming primarily from two branches of Andean gastronomy: Nikkei, Japanese-Peruvian and Chifa, Chinese-Peruvian.

The Toro cocktail menu, inspired by new world wines and Latin trends, includes pisco, cachaça, rum, tequila y mezcal, as well as an extensive selection of wines with a substantial Mexican influence. You will also find sake, locally brewed beers, and artisanal cocktails.

“We are excited to open Toro in Cabo San Lucas because the destination has everything our local visitors and tourists were looking for: a casual, inviting space with delicious cocktails and food. It’s also very exciting to work with chef Sandoval, who has global acclaim.”—Toro’s general manager, Alberto Ribeiro.

“We believe the more vibrant you eat, the more vibrant you’ll be.”

The culinary adventure at Templo offers dishes based on three cooking methods: South American grilling, Asian wok, and our “saviche bar” (sashimi + ceviche) with Japanese and Peruvian influences. Templo dedicated to supporting local purveyors, specializing in using seasonal, local organic ingredients, as well as seafood from the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortés, meat from Sonora (“Choice” and “Prime” grade). Templo is on the forefront of sustainable cuisine and always looking to highlight the ingredients themselves.

DOC Wine Bar

Authentic Italian

Denominazione di origine controllata,” or DOC for short, has been the epitome of authenticity since it opened in 2009. Chef Polo and Pietro Gioco offered new dishes prepared in a traditional Italian way and presented in a familiar style. With our recent renovation, we introduced a “salumeria” that offers a wide variety of cheeses and Italian sausages as well as traditional “spuntini”, snacks. This is in addition to the ample selection of classic pastas we’ve been known for these last six years, as well as our robust selection of Italian and Mexican wines, which can be preceded by a “bassotto”, cocktail served in a short glass.
