Ayuda a Corazón de Niño, A.C., in partnership with Amigos de los Niños de Cabo San Lucas, A.C., Philips Mexico, Terumo Mexico, and Hospiten Mexico, has launched the 12th Jornada Unidos de Corazón with a strong commitment on children’s health. This initiative, the second of the year in Baja California Sur, started on August 1 and will run until August 10, 2024.
The mission of this journey is to provide a full and happy life for children with heart disease. The foundation has treated 225 patients to date, providing equal life opportunities. On this occasion, we anticipate performing surgical procedures on approximately 20 to 24 children, including catheterizations, cardiac ablations, and open-heart surgeries. The total number of patients will be announced at the end of the day.
With advanced methods and comprehensive care, children who have undergone open-heart surgery can walk even the day after their surgery. The program aims to ensure quality care for each of these young patients, focusing on equal access to treatment.
The collaboration with Hospiten Cabo San Lucas and the Unidos de Corazón alliance has been crucial for the success of our journey. Ayuda a Corazón de Niño is grateful to Hospiten Mexico for their support. Ayuda a Corazón de Niño is grateful to Hospiten Mexico for their support. This year, we hosted our first event at Hospiten Cancun, marking a significant expansion of our program to another state in the country. It was a challenge for us as it was our first time organizing an event outside our home state. In Cancun, 21 children underwent surgery during the May journey in Quintana Roo.
We want to express our gratitude to the 50 Mexican volunteer specialists from various cities across the country and the two foreign specialists from the United States and Canada. Additionally, we extend our thanks to the 15 volunteers who, as staff members, contributed to making this journey possible. This diverse team of almost 70 people have been working diligently over the past ten days to save and improve the lives of children in Southern California who are in need.
