The Creation of La Playa Sports Park was Declared.

At a press conference held on Thursday, 29 May at the Hotel El Ganzo, the donation of 51 million pesos was announced, along with a commitment to support landscaping and cleaning for the construction of the La Playa Sports Park, a joint project of Puerto Los Cabos and Pablo’s Foundation. This space included a baseball field, a large football field that could be converted into two 7×7 fields, a central esplanade, restrooms, parking, and pedestrian walkways. The purpose was to provide a free public playground for the residents of La Playa, Rincón de La Playa and the surrounding neighbourhoods, directly benefiting more than 4200 people, especially children and adolescents, and ensuring its proper maintenance thanks to the continuous support of Puerto Los Cabos in gardening and cleaning.

During the presentation, it was highlighted that since 2015, the organisation had evolved into a more solid and professional model to serve the five neighbouring communities of La Playa, Rincón de La Playa, La Choya, Las Ánimas and San Vicente comprehensively. Annually, this community centre receives more than 1,500 people in over 15,000 activities focused on learning, art, wellbeing and social cohesion. In addition, its events were able to attract up to 800 attendees, and significantly, 70% of its team was comprised of local people committed to the development of their community.

The primary objective of the project was to promote a thriving community by creating a safe space that would foster the well-being and integral development of its users, based on three fundamental axes: Art, Environment, and Well-being. During the conference, the key alliances that made this project possible were highlighted, including Escuela Primaria Estado de Campeche, Telebachillerato 42, Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur (UABCS), Big Green, Flourish Trust, We’ll Assist, Instituto de Cultura, ZOFEMAT, Banco de Alimentos BCS, CleanUp BCS, Los Cabos Children Foundation (LCCF), Monarca Canada Foundation, Banco de Tapitas, MVS Music Centre, Boy Scouts Los Cabos and Hagamos Composta.

With the inauguration of the La Playa Sports Park, the destination’s communities now have a space designed for sports, family gatherings, and outdoor activities, thus fulfilling the mission of offering opportunities for development and recreation to the area’s inhabitants.
