“Todos Santos is an oasis where time softens and life reconnects with its roots.”

She has lived in Los Cabos for more than 30 years. Throughout this time, she has been involved in a wide range of entrepreneurial, philanthropic, and social activities and has been recognized for her commitment and contributions to the community.
In terms of her personality, Gabriela Camus is known for being warm and charismatic, with a strong sense of family and friendship. She has been a key figure in the social life of Los Cabos and has actively participated in numerous charitable events and initiatives. Wellbeing is an authentic pillar of her life and is reflected in every activity she undertakes.
Her relationship with Ernesto Coppel has been a fundamental and fulfilling chapter of her life. Together, as husband and wife, they have built a large family and an important business legacy in Todos Santos.
Beginnings and Arrival in Los Cabos Gabriela Camus has resided in Los Cabos for more than three decades, playing an active role in the business, philanthropic, and social spheres. Her arrival was the result of a series of coincidences after marrying a Mexican diplomat while living in Rome. When she became pregnant, the couple decided to move to Mexico City; however, destiny led them to Los Cabos, partly due to a brother’s interest in the region.
This marked the beginning of the “La Golondrina” project. This restaurant operated only during the tourist season and was located in one of the oldest houses in Cabo San Lucas.
Originally from Mexico City, Gabriela found in Los Cabos the simplicity and charm of the sea. She settled in Terrasol, which at the time was the only beachfront development. She witnessed the transformation of Cabo San Lucas from a fishing village with just three main hotels—Hacienda, Finisterra, and Solmar—into a destination shaped by new tourism developments along El Médano Beach.

Key Relationships and Collaborations Throughout her journey, Gabriela forged meaningful friendships and collaborations, including with Edith Jiménez, who arrived from Acapulco and became a key figure in promoting tourism and regional culture. Edith organized activities both in the past and today, and played an important role in rescuing traditional recipes from the peninsula.
Connection with Nature and Development in Todos Santos The magic of Los Cabos—defined by the convergence of desert, sea, and mountains—deeply captivated Gabriela. She recognizes the region’s multicultural character and the opportunities it offers, as well as the importance of private initiative in local development.
She describes Todos Santos as an oasis that caught her attention for its orchards and the authenticity of its restaurants. Together with her husband, Ernesto Coppel (“Neto”), she chose this place to create a family and business legacy. They transformed gardens and properties into iconic spaces in Santaterra, which includes an art gallery and the restaurants Oystera and Vino Park.
They have preserved the natural surroundings and respected the land’s fertility. Inspired by Morocco, they incorporated artistic and landscape elements, thereby beautifying and conserving the town.
Commitment to Community and Philanthropy Gabriela emphasizes the importance of caring for natural resources and maintaining low construction density in orchard areas, thereby preserving palm groves and the natural flow of water. She highlights the collaborative work of business owners for the benefit of Todos Santos, supporting the fire department and promoting quality in the gastronomic and hospitality offerings—efforts that have positioned the town as a valuable alternative destination in the region.
Inspired by figures such as Lucrecia Aguilar, the first female president of the Rotary Club, Gabriela channeled her philanthropic vocation by founding Huitzi, an organization focused on supporting senior citizens and underserved communities. She organizes events, art auctions, and cultural activities in collaboration with organizations such as Club de Abuelos San Miguel and La Ballena School. She also supports groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, firmly believing in the importance of balancing what one receives with what one gives.

Reflections on Human and Social Development Gabriela believes that balance and solidarity are essential for social wellbeing. She highlights the role of civil society organizations and foundations in the future, advocating empathy and the recognition of individual talents as pathways to happiness and personal growth. She emphasizes that challenges help shape character and open the door to new opportunities.
Art, Culture, and a Sense of Belonging Art, music, and theater are essential elements of humanity and community cohesion. Gabriela considers participation in associations and institutions, such as AMEXME, fundamental, as each individual can contribute to the development and wellbeing of Los Cabos.
Vision for Todos Santos and Dreams Fulfilled Gabriela underscores the responsibility of preserving the beauty of Todos Santos and promoting urban development that respects the town’s DNA: horizontal architecture, the preservation of orchards and palm groves, and planning similar to that of European cities that have maintained their identity over centuries.
She shares her dream of creating a magical garden inspired by places such as Misión del Sol in Cuernavaca, where people experience well-being and healing through contact with nature. From her own experience, she affirms that dreams do come true when they are pursued with heart and a purpose rooted in the common good—overcoming obstacles while remaining authentic.
