Editorial text by Tendencia El Arte de Viajar

In the heart of Los Cabos, the gastronomic community experienced the most important night of the year. On 4 November, the Ilios Estiatorio restaurant—a jewel of Grupo Anderson’s—dressed up to celebrate the 6th edition of the Culinary Awards Los Cabos, an event that celebrates the culinary arts, the passion for excellence, and the commitment to well-being that defines this world-class destination.

The atmosphere was simply magical. The sea breeze, the golden glow of the lights designed by The Main Event Cabo, and the subtle notes of Baja Wines intertwined with the artisanal cocktails of Reserva de la Familia José Cuervo, creating a sensory experience that transcended taste and awakened the soul.

A destination that vibrates to the rhythm of wellbeing

Los Cabos, Todos Santos, and El Pescadero are places where luxury is redefined through awareness and authenticity. In this edition, 153 restaurants participated, 56 were nominated, and 18 received the highest honours. Each one represents a story of dedication, creativity, and respect for local ingredients, the natural environment, and the pleasure of sharing.

The Stars of Flavour

With Amparo García’s vibrant energy guiding the evening, the most prominent names in gastronomy were revealed with joy. The public chose Sardinilla restaurant as Hidden Treasure, while Kefish Fish Market was recognised as Local Favourite. The Sweet Menu category honoured IC Store Cocina & Coffee Shop, and the Art of Service award went to Harry’s Prime Steakhouse for its excellence in hospitality. In the area of thematic creativity, SOL KBBQ was awarded Best Themed Restaurant, and Hoja Santa Restaurant received applause for offering the destination’s Star Breakfast.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Diego La Garde of the iconic El Squid Roe, a symbol of an era that combines history and entertainment. The Organizing Committee also expressed its deep gratitude to Jesús Corral, President of the Jury Committee, for his exemplary leadership and tireless commitment to the project since its inception.

In the Hotel Restaurant of the Year category, the winner was Comal | Chileno Bay Resort & Residences. The New Restaurant award went to Limo Heritage Kitchen, while InVita Bistro Italian Cuisine & Wine Bar was named Established Restaurant.

In the special categories, Acre was doubly recognised for its commitment to nature and innovation, winning the Sustainability by SANTOMAR and Cocktail by Reserva de la Familia José Cuervo awards. The Pairing by Reserva de la Familia José Cuervo award was given to Oystera, and the Jury Committee Award once again highlighted MarHumo, from the JW Marriott Los Cabos Beach Resort & Spa, for its overall excellence.

Gastronomy with a Purpose

Beyond the competition, the Culinary Awards Los Cabos reaffirmed its social commitment. The collaboration with the Alliance for Food Security in Baja California Sur (ASA Alimentaria) promotes the “Al Rescate” programme, a movement that combines culinary passion with solidarity, strengthening the bonds that sustain our community.

During the gala, Felipe Fernández Sánchez Navarro, Chairman of the Board of Directors, gave an inspiring speech recalling the origins of this initiative, which was born in challenging times and has now established itself as a beacon of hope and unity.

A Guide, A Community, A Legacy

The new Culinary Awards 2025 Guide will be available in print and digital formats to celebrate the 153 participating restaurants, honouring their efforts and contributions to the destination. More than just a list, it will be an emotional map guiding locals and visitors through the flavours that bring Baja California Sur to life.

It was also announced that the Suelo Sur restaurant in San José del Cabo will host the Los Cabos Culinary Awards 2026 gala, a venue that reflects the essence of the event with its contemporary design.

The magic of Los Cabos in every dish

Culinary Awards Los Cabos 2025 was, once again, a tribute to the creativity, excellence, and well-being that distinguish Baja California Sur as a gastronomic paradise. A night of light, flavour, and hope that reminds us that, in Los Cabos, every culinary experience is an invitation to celebrate life.
