New Experiences in Los Cabos: Hotels

Grand Velas Los Cabos: Art Gallery Dining Experience

A stylish all-inclusive beachfront hotel, Grand Velas already had an impressive art collection when it opened in 2016, notably the whimsical bronze sculptures in the public areas. But now the hotel houses a dedicated Art Gallery curated by Patricia Mendoza, a well-known gallery owner based in San Jose del Cabo. The spacious, well-lit gallery, opened in April, will display the work of up to four artists. Exhibitions will rotate every couple of months. The Art Gallery is open to the public. Hotel guests can even partake of scheduled Art-to-Table dining experiences in the gallery.

Nobu Hotel Los Cabos

Created by Japanese celebrity Chef “Nobu” Matsuhisa and Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro, Nobu Hotel opened in April as a 200-room hideaway that oozes Japanese minimalist style. The white-washed hotel, fronting a pristine beach on the Pacific, fuses architectural elegance and laid-back luxury. Set within the 1,500-acre resort community of Diamante, the hotel offers guests exclusive access to the club’s otherwise-private golf courses. Nobu Restaurant features seafood dishes created especially for this new gastronomic outpost.

Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos

Situated next to Nobu Hotel, this 639-room, all-inclusive hotel is infused with Hard Rock’s musical essence. Unveiled in July, the hotel has accommodations in seven categories, including Hard Rock’s branded “Rock Star Suite,” a 4,000-square-foot, two-bedroom oceanfront suite. Guest amenities range from complimentary streaming music channels to a signature Rock Spa® with 36 treatment rooms. The Hard Rock offers eight themed dining outlets, five swim-up bars, six pools, water slides, and three lounges.

Tucked within Puerto Los Cabos, a 2,000-acre resort community 10 minutes from San Jose del Cabo, Zadun, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve will welcome guests starting November 1st. The Reserve is the luxury hospitality brand’s top-tier product. Spaced along bluffs above a lovely coastline, Zadún features 115 suites and villas (each with a private plunge pool) and was designed to complement the region’s desert and ocean setting. Oriented to the Sea of Cortez, the resort’s low-slung buildings harmonize with the rugged site’s natural contours.

Located on the East Cape an hour’s drive from the airport, Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas, centerpiece of a 1,000-acre resort and residential community, will open November 1. Central components include a Robert Trent Jones II-designed golf course, a 250-slip deep-water marina, a beach and yacht club, and a sleek 145-key Four Seasons Resort. Rooms and suites have spacious private terraces and ocean views. The setting is a two-mile (3.2 kilometer) stretch of white-sand beach lapped by the calm, swimmable waters of the Sea of Cortez.

Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Hilton’s luxury hotel brand, will make its first appearance in Mexico later this year when it assumes operation of The Resort at Pedregal. The award-winning property, recognized as one of the finest hotels in Latin America, will be rebranded as Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal. This ultra-luxe, 115-room retreat, set on 24 acres of soaring rock pinnacles and crescent beaches, commands an exquisite Land’s End setting.
