Malibu Farm, NOBU Los Cabos

The luxury of good taste through simplicity at NOBU Los Cabos

Los Cabos has experienced a movement in recent years that has been booming in popularity. It is a movement that seeks to connect the senses with nature. It is an experience that can help you enjoy food prepared in a simple way but also uses natural products to focus on the sense of taste.

Malibu Farm is the restaurant of Chef Helene Henderson. It reflects the original Malibu, California location’s vibe within the Nobu Hotel Los Cabos, and specializes in farm to table dining. The chef’s approach focuses on using local products and prefers to incorporate fresh and organic ingredients into all the dishes.

Around 60 products including herbs, spices, fruits and vegetables are grown in the “Yakosuku” Chef´s garden. As a result, Malibu Farm will take you on a gastronomic journey through the nature located on the shores of the Pacific Ocean.

“Sometimes, it is difficult to understand how this rocky desert destination that enjoys 300 days of sunshine a year, but little rain, can have such successful farmland. However, the mixture of mineral-rich soil and irrigation allows farms and orchards to thrive and produce abundant crops. That is certainly true for Malibu Farm.

We have different kind of vegetables, such as lettuce and pumpkins and aromatic herbs, such as mint, basil and oregano. All these products are used in the preparation of our dishes.”

Nobu Los Cabos is acutely aware of the environment and understands how fundamental it is to take care of it. As a result, the sustainability practices of Malibu Farm include procedures that minimize environmental pollution that comes from normal operations. In addition, the restaurant promotes the consumption of local products that supports the growth and economic well-being of the community.

“We have but one planet and the area where we are located is especially privileged. That’s why our chief objective is to offer optimal facilities and services in a way that generates the minimum possible environmental impact.

This is accomplished through water reuse, operational planning, low energy lighting, identification of native plant species supplied by our guests, and more.”

In addition to promoting actions that reduce environmental impacts, Malibu Farm encourages the consumption of local products such as organic chicken and the catch of the day.

“We have several signature dishes at Malibu Farm. They are served and prepared exactly the same as in the other restaurants of Chef Helene Henderson, as is the distinctive avocado pizza and ABC tacos. Our signature dishes never disappear from the menu. New choices can be found according to the temporality.”

The architectural design of both Malibu Farm and Nobu Los Cabos is a minimalist style. The earth tones and large windows invite you to focus all your senses on what’s happening at the moment.
