Once again, the most important fishing tournament in Los Cabos beats expectations in its fortieth edition. Bisbee’s Black & Blue managed to register a total of 127 boats in this millionaire adventure long awaited by fans of sport fishing.
“In the 40th edition, 2020 and with all the problems (of this year), the largest award in Bisbee’s history is achieved, 4 million 600 thousand dollars”, commented Cilcerio Mercado, coordinator of the competition.
The participating teams are “one marlin” away from becoming millionaires, so they set out in search of a blue or black specimen of this species after the starting shot fired by the State Governor, Carlos Mendoza Davis.
Carlos Mendoza reiterated the importance of continuing with events like this one that contribute to the reactivation of the economy in Baja California Sur: “If possible, we take care of those who visit us, those who provide us services to serve people and so that let us continue to be a welcoming state”.
Los Cabos is not only a paradise for travelers in search of beaches, but also for fans of sport fishing. Our seas are home to a great variety of species, the blue marlin is the favorite of this sport. This famous fish that lives in tropical waters is the largest in the billfish family and is named after the striking cobalt color of its back that fades to a shimmering silver hue. Similarly, black marlin, also one of the most coveted species in fishing, has a slight variation in color that is reflected in a dark shade of blue.
According to the information provided by the organizing committee, the scale will open at 2:00 p.m. and will close at 9:00 p.m. the three days of competition. On this occasion, Bisbee’s Black & Blue will not be open to the public to avoid crowds at the pier.
The effort and commitment of the committee has made the conditions suitable to experience the passion and emotion that has accompanied the tournament editions. The response from the community in Los Cabos has been positive and a pleasant surprise for those who enjoy this renowned event.
