Los Cabos, México and Golf

Los Cabos is the selected destination to host the prestigious World Wide Technology Championship, Mexico’s top PGA TOUR event, which features incredible golf courses. In this edition, sports professionals will gather at the esteemed El Cardonal venue in Diamante.

During the opening ceremony, Jim Kavanaugh, CEO of World Wide Technology and Tyler Dennis, president and EVP of the PGA TOUR, were present. Mike Abott, Sr. VP of Operations at Diamante and Joe Mazzeo, the Tournament Director of the World Wide Championship, the organizing team expressed their excitement about hosting the event in a luxurious destination with world-class amenities. They emphasized their focus on creating great experiences and making a significant impact on the local community. These ideals are shared by the tournament, allowing the city to add another world-class event to its calendar, along with the natural values that emerge from the sport.

Thirty-eight international golfers are among the 132 PGA TOUR professionals from 16 countries taking on the challenges of a golf course designed by Tiger Woods, who debuted as a designer of this kind of venue at the opening ceremony. The competition will consist of 72 holes by stroke play, with a total prize purse of 8.2 million dollars and 500 FedExCup points. The silver trophy showcases the Cabo San Lucas Arch, representing the beauty of the tourist port.

Mexican professionals Roberto Díaz, Sebastián Vázquez, José Cristóbal Islas, and Isidro Benítez performed at the inauguration ceremony, which included civic acts and mariachi music.

Throughout this week, all four rounds will be broadcast globally on the PGA TOUR’s extensive worldwide television distribution network, including Golf Channel in the United States and Golf Channel Latin America in Mexico and throughout Latin America. Internationally, PGA TOUR coverage is available in over 200 countries and territories in 26 languages through 44 broadcast and digital partners.

In terms of community engagement, World Wide Technology will support various philanthropic causes as part of its social responsibility commitment to Los Cabos.
