A little bit of Josephine’s history: Conference, lecture and photographic exhibition.

Yesterday, in the cultural patio of the Municipal Palace of San José del Cabo, the conference “Data, Analysis and Historical Conclusions of the Foundation of the Mission of San José del Cabo” was given by Luis Domínguez Bareño, with comments by the Municipal chronicler Gabriel Fonseca Verdugo.

Representing the Municipal President was Oscar Leggs Castro; Councilwoman Laura López, alternate for Councilwoman #4 Lucía Sanchéz; Víctor Holmos in the personal representation of the General Secretary Ariel Castro Cárdenas; Perla Valles, Director of the Municipal Institute of Disability; René Holmos Montaño, Coordinator of the Raíces Group; Héctor Guereña Cota, Outstanding Character of the community of Cabo San Lucas; Felipe Marrón Rosas, Coordinator of the Yenekamú Group of Cabo San Lucas; and the presence of her beautiful majesty Linda Cristina Ruelas, Queen of the Floral Games “Margarito Sández Villarino”.

The community’s interest was so overwhelming that the Municipal Palace Garden could not accommodate the large number of people.

Luis Bareño gave an insightful analytical presentation on the history of the Mission of San José del Cabo Añuití. He explained the definition of a Mission, the social events involving native ethnic groups, the Mission’s changes of location, and its progress as a missionary town from its origins until the 18th century.

In the second part of the program, the Josefina group “Grupo Raíces” explained their participation in the community of La Cabeza. In addition, they talked about the mural project with several pieces, focused on the history of the municipality of Los Cabos and what the San José del Cabo Mission represents for the Josephine identity.

They also briefly explained the photographs on display and for sale, taken in the 20th century in San José del Cabo.

Since its founding, San José del Cabo has witnessed significant events and has experienced substantial growth in infrastructure, tourism and community development.

Let’s continue learning and sharing the rich local history of San José del Cabo!
