Fernando de la Torre
Fernando de la Torre is not just a systems engineer and a proud graduate of CBTA; he is a multi-talented individual whose passion for art has consistently shaped his journey. From a young age, he immersed himself in the world of theatre, actively participating in productions during his teenage years. His love for creativity extends to drawing and animation, where he keeps exploring his artistic side.
Today, Fernando merges his technical prowess with his artistic f lair at the La Toba International Film Festival, where he takes on the exciting role of coordinating audio and video recording and editing. His unique blend of skills ensures that every project shines, showcasing his commitment to both technology and the arts.
He initially participated in the festival as technical support. However, he soon became more involved after realising that someone with systems knowledge was needed to operate the audiovisual software. Fernando, accompanied by social service students who served as interviewers and camerawomen, faced the challenge of quickly learning a new program and resolving technical issues in real time. “Once, the equipment malfunctioned in the middle of a recording. They had given me general instructions on what to do, but I felt nervous at that moment. Fortunately, we were able to solve the problem,” he recalls.
Beyond the technical aspects, this festival represents a breath of fresh air for him. “As a community, we have lost cultural spaces, and this festival is a new source of inspiration,” he says.
Fernando illustrates the powerful alliance between creativity and science, demonstrating how they can coexist and enhance one another. His story embodies the spirit of the La Toba International Film Festival, which is cultivating a vibrant sense of identity, culture, and new career opportunities in his community.
