VOICES THAT BUILD LOS CABOS | People who have helped shape the destination through creativity, community, and long-term vision.
“History endures not by chance, but through people willing to listen, collaborate, and move forward together.”
“What begins as a professional assignment can sometimes turn into a lifelong bond.”

I began visiting Los Cabos sporadically in 2004 while working in the United States for an international company. During that period, the company experienced significant growth in Los Cabos, which led me to collaborate on major projects such as El Dorado and Palmilla.
Establishing Roots in San José del Cabo In 2008, I decided to move to San José del Cabo and open an office on Valerio González Street. That moment coincided with the onset of the global economic crisis. Faced with this challenge, I began thinking about how we could support and integrate into the local community—offering our services while keeping our team active and avoiding layoffs.
Community Integration and the Historic Center Through friends, I learned about the Historic Center Committee, a project that immediately captured my interest. I volunteered to collaborate so our team could actively participate while also supporting the community. By then, we had all chosen to make San José del Cabo our home—we already felt like part of the place.
As I became more involved, I grew fascinated by the town’s history. I began researching and meeting with local residents to learn more, discovering a wealth of historical and architectural value that warrants preservation. I truly fell in love with San José del Cabo.

Association Involvement and Project Development I joined the Historic Center Association’s committee and relocated to Morelos Street, where I opened an art gallery and established my studio upstairs. From there, I began developing sketches and ideas to improve the Historic Center and presented a proposal to the committee. Thanks to existing connections, the project eventually scaled up into a full historic center remodeling initiative.
Accompanying the committee throughout the entire process was an exciting experience. I fondly recall working alongside Enrique Silva, Paulina Gutiérrez, Nathalie Buchler, Blanca Pedrín, and Gabriel Corral. Our diverse professional backgrounds enriched the project and strengthened us as a creative, proactive group—becoming a true pillar of ideas in service of the Historic Center.
Development and Consolidation of the Historic Center Our work required frequent trips to La Paz to identify challenges and propose solutions, always with the aim of preserving San José del Cabo’s architectural identity. We initiated the permitting process, and within the board, we all shared the same feeling: the time had come to turn ideas into reality.

The area was officially designated and recognized as a Historic Center. The Art Walk on Thursdays was launched, zones were clearly defined, and significant renovations took place. Thursdays became not only a tourist attraction but also a gathering point for locals— bringing together restaurants, galleries, shops, and charming boutique hotels.
Despite budget constraints and ongoing maintenance challenges, the outcome was positive. Our main objective was always to actively participate and contribute our effort.
Looking Ahead Today, I have many ideas because I see tremendous potential for new activities that could continue attracting visitors. San José del Cabo has become an international destination, enriched by a unique multicultural atmosphere.
It is essential to value history and remember that the center of San José del Cabo was not always what it is today—behind it lies hard work, collaboration, and compromise. In any association, listening to others and yielding for the common good is key. Ideas are born and realized when we move forward together
