From August 5th to 6th, 2023, the Magical Town of Todos Santos hosted the inauguration of the First Festival of Magical Towns of the Sea of Cortez Alliance. The guests were Baja California Sur, Baja California, Sonora, Sinaloa, and Nayarit.
Spectators and visitors gathered in Todos Santos’ central square to showcase the town’s cultural, natural, and gastronomic richness. The event aimed to boost tourism and economic development by strengthening collaboration between industry actors.
The First Magical Towns Festival was attended by the Federal Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, bringing together personalities headed by the Governor of Baja California Sur, Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío; his counterparts, the Governor of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda; of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya; of Sonora, Alfonso Durazo Montaño; the head of SECTUR, Maribel Collins Sánchez; representatives of the government of Nayarit, as well as the Secretaries of Tourism of the five states and the mayors of Mulegé, Edith Aguilar Villavicencio and La Paz, Milena Quiroga, who inaugurated this meeting of traditions, culture, and gastronomy, where each of the 22 Magical Towns of this region presented their tourist attractions and handicrafts.
This event, resulting from a joint effort and work, is directed towards the same goal: developing the towns northwest of the country.
The Magical Town of Ures, Sonora, will host the celebration and festivities in 2024.
