The University of the Gulf of California created a platform for dialogue with Adán Jodorowsky as part of the 12th-anniversary celebration of Cinema Vagabundo. He is the son of the renowned Chilean filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky, and Mexican actress Valérie Trumblay. The session was conducted in a dynamic question-and-answer format, allowing for an engaging and interactive discussion between Adán Jodorowsky and the audience.
Jodorowsky spoke about the challenges of portraying his father in “Endless Poetry” during Cinema Vagabundo’s weekly screenings. Below are some personal details he shared:
Born in France on October 29, 1979, Adam acted since childhood, starting in his father’s films. He is currently devoted to his music project, producing for other artists and directing music videos and films.
At sixteen, he joined the punk band The Hellboys, opening shows for the likes of Joe Strummer, Brian Setzer, Rancid, etc. Later, he tried new musical genres and met Yarol Poupaud, thus becoming a music producer. He simultaneously worked as a bassist for the renowned French singer Adrienne Pauly.
On October 30, 2006, he released his first solo album, “Étoile Éternelle,” under Adanowsky. His album was heavily influenced by the French musician Serge Gainsbourg.
After several years in the music industry, he released his latest album in 2021, paying tribute to popular French songs with ‘The French Kiss.’ The album “Mis grandes éxitos” (My Greatest Hits) shows that success is achieved through beautiful collaboration with talented individuals like Chilean singer Mon Laferte.
Adán Jodorowsky has collaborated with many artists, such as Robin Coudert, Devendra Banhart, Alizée, Natalia Lafourcade, Instituto Mexicano del Sonido, Teri Gender Bender, Sasha Sokol, and Mon Laferte.
Adán Jodorowsky composed soundtracks and acted in “Poesía sin Fin,” portraying his father.
His experiences as an actor, his experiences as a musical artist and advice for the film industry were some topics discussed during this meeting.
