Los Cabos at Its Best, MedGolf: A Meeting Between Sport, Health and Gastronomy

With its growing reputation as one of the most exclusive and safe destinations in the country, Los Cabos will host the launch of MedGolf, an event that brings together health professionals, golf enthusiasts, and gastronomy and wellness enthusiasts in a comprehensive experience that redefines luxury tourism in Mexico.

Conceived by Dr. José Jaime Gutiérrez Farías, a graduate of the ABC Hospital, MedGolf was born out of a desire to create community. What started as a simple meeting between medical colleagues in Morelia evolved into an event with a national and international vision, integrating sport, health, lifestyle and social responsibility. The first edition will be held in Los Cabos from June 26 to 29, 2025. It will offer a programme that combines a golf tournament, gastronomic experiences, health talks, a yacht tour, and activities for all attendees, including those who do not play golf. ‘’e chose Los Cabos because it is an aspirational destination, safe and with an unrivalled offer of hospitality, connectivity and natural beauty,’’ explained Dr. Gutierrez during the official presentation of the event. Accompanied by key figures such as Claudia del Pino, Director of Tendencia, and Freddy Holm, Founder of the PAM – Por Amor a México a México movement, the objective of building a community around values like health, altruism, and promoting Mexico’s strengths was highlighted.

One of the most emotional moments was the announcement of support for the Los Cabos Children’s Foundation, an organisation with over 25 years of experience that promotes children’s health and collaborative work among foundations. A portion of the funds raised during the tournament will be allocated to this cause, further enhancing the philanthropic component of the event.

From the course, the Club Campestre San José is the sporting venue for the tournament in a foursome to go-go format, with more than 100 players and six guest restaurants serving tastings throughout the 18 holes. Among them: Don Sanchez, Nicksan, DUM, Sunset Monalisa, Come a Casa and Oyster House. For those not participating in the tournament, an alternative experience called the Wellness Experience was designed, featuring golf clinics, a showcase of wellness brands, tastings, and relaxation sessions.

‘MedGolf is not just for doctors or exclusively for golfers: it is an event for those who seek to live experiences with purpose,’ stressed Claudia del Pino, who emphasized that “Los Cabos is not only beach, but art, culture, nature and an active community that welcomes with open arms. On behalf of the Los Cabos Tourism Promotion Trust, Gabriel Cardona reinforced the role of golf as one of the pillars of the destination: “We have 18 active courses and three more in development, signed by the best designers in the world. In 2024, we are expected to receive more than 135,000 golfing visitors, who spend on average 30% more than other tourists. That speaks to the potential of this segment,” he said.

MedGolf aims to promote Los Cabos as the golf capital of Mexico, as well as an epicentre for wellness experiences, fine dining, medical tourism, and events with a cause—a unique opportunity to reconnect with the essentials in one of the most spectacular destinations in the country.
