Los Cabos, B.C.S. — The afternoon unfolded through warm embraces, meaningful conversations, and a shared purpose. At Cabo Sagrado, business leaders, nonprofit organizations, government officials, and members of the media answered the call of Los Cabos Children’s Foundation to take part in Lazos que hacen la diferencia (Bonds That Make a Difference), a gathering that made one thing clear: the well-being of children in Baja California Sur is a cause powerful enough to bring an entire community together.
The venue was filled. More than a ceremony to present results, the event became an opportunity to recognize that meaningful change happens when different sectors choose to work toward a common goal.
The hospitality of Gabriela Richer, owner of Cabo Sagrado, made every guest feel welcome. As with each of the projects she leads, she brought warmth, genuine connection, and a deep sense of community to the occasion, creating an experience that reflected the collaborative spirit that defines Los Cabos.
During the event, Marisa Comella, Executive Director of Los Cabos Children’s Foundation, shared the organization’s progress and addressed the challenges that continue to affect children’s health in Baja California Sur. She also announced an investment of MXN 35.8 million to strengthen 54 health programs, benefiting 40,084 children and adolescents across the state’s five municipalities during the 2026–2027 period.
The event also included the presentation of the latest Children’s Health Assessment in Los Cabos, a study that provides a clear picture of the primary barriers families face in accessing healthcare services. Its findings highlight the influence of economic and social conditions on children’s health, the challenges of obtaining timely care, the limited availability of preventive and mental health services, and the impact that the health of parents and caregivers has on the development of children and adolescents. The study will serve as an important tool to guide future social investment decisions and strengthen healthcare strategies throughout the state.
The results presented during the event also demonstrated the impact of collaboration. In 2025, the foundation supported 46 programs with an investment of MXN 64 million, benefiting 23,899 children and adolescents. Since its founding in 2002, the organization has strengthened 103 programs, with a cumulative investment of more than MXN 451 million, contributing to improved health and well-being for 121,225 children and adolescents throughout Baja California Sur.
One of the afternoon’s most moving moments was the presentation of the Caminando Juntos 2025 recognition to Del Cabo Events and its affiliated companies for their extraordinary commitment to the health and well-being of children in Baja California Sur. Beyond the recognition itself, the moment symbolized the power of partnerships between the private sector and civil society to create lasting, sustainable impact.
Perhaps the most important message of the day, however, was not found in the numbers alone. It could be felt throughout the afternoon: business leaders engaging with nonprofit organizations, community leaders sharing their projects, members of the media committed to amplifying these stories, and dozens of people united by the belief that collaboration remains one of the most powerful tools for creating meaningful change.
Los Cabos has demonstrated time and again that its strength is built not only through tourism and investment, but also through a business community deeply committed to the place it calls home. Lazos que hacen la diferencia was a powerful example of that commitment—a reminder that a destination’s development can also be measured by how well it cares for those who represent its future.
At Tendencia, we believe the stories that truly inspire are those born from collective action. We therefore celebrate the work of Los Cabos Children’s Foundation, led by Marisa Comella, as well as the commitment of businesses, foundations, institutions, community leaders, and members of the media who continue to strengthen an exemplary network of collaboration throughout Baja California Sur.
The invitation remains open to more companies, business leaders, and community members to learn about this work and discover the many ways they can contribute. Every partnership, every project, and every shared effort represent an opportunity to transform lives and build a healthier future for thousands of children.
Because, in the end, the bonds that truly make a difference are not simply those celebrated on a stage, but those strengthened every day through empathy, generosity, and the conviction that a united community will always have the power to change its own story.
