The third edition of the event, held at Solmar Golf Links, brought together representatives from hotels and tourism-related companies across Baja California Sur.
Golf served as a meeting point for Los Cabos’ tourism industry. On August 8, the Los Cabos Hotel Association (AHLC) held the third edition of its Golf Tournament, an event designed to strengthen connections among representatives from hotels and businesses involved in the destination’s tourism industry.
This year’s tournament featured special guest Jorge Campos, former Mexican national team soccer player, who shared the course with tourism industry representatives. A total of 48 players competed across 16 teams.
A Setting Between the Desert and the Ocean
The tournament took place at Solmar Golf Links, which was named Latin America’s Best Golf Course 2025 at the 12th edition of the World Golf Awards.
Designed by Australian golfer Greg Norman, the course embraces the distinctive landscape of Los Cabos, where the desert meets the ocean, creating a sporting experience deeply connected to the region.
The location and characteristics of its golf courses have helped Los Cabos strengthen its sports tourism offerings, particularly those centered around golf. The sport attracts both travelers who include it in their itineraries and groups that visit the destination specifically to participate in tournaments and specialized events.
Golf and Tourism Industry Connections
Lilzi Orcí, executive president of the Los Cabos Hotel Association, emphasized that the tournament also serves as a networking opportunity for tourism industry members.
Beyond the competition, the event brought together representatives from hotels and tourism-related companies, strengthened professional relationships, and created new opportunities for collaboration.
Tournament Results
First place went to the Hotel Flamboyan team, composed of Rigoberto Rodríguez, Ricardo Reyes, and Edgar Castellanos.
The Hotel Buenavista team, represented by Axel Valdez, Marco Núñez, and Rodrigo Gómez, finished in second place.
Third place went to the Guest Team, composed of Jorge Campos, Antonio Campos, and Federico Espejo.
By continuing this tournament, the Los Cabos Hotel Association is strengthening its efforts to foster engagement and collaboration among the different stakeholders in Baja California Sur’s tourism industry while highlighting one of the signature sporting experiences available in Los Cabos.
The Los Cabos Hotel Association currently represents 97 hotels with approximately 19,000 rooms. Its work promotes collaboration among its members, government authorities, and industry organizations to strengthen the destination’s competitiveness, advance sustainable tourism development, and contribute to the community’s economic and social growth.
