The capital of Californias is welcoming and friendly, where you will always be greeted with warmth and hospitality. The locals are excellent hosts who will ensure you feel right at home.
One of the most significant traditional ceremonies in Baja California Sur is the traditional feast of Our Lady of Loreto, a valuable sample of the richness of Baja California Sur, one of our most memorable and symbolic characteristics.
The residents of Loreto gathered in Plaza Benito Juarez in front of the municipal palace to begin the largest and most significant popular celebration and religious festival of the year. This festival expresses the beautiful traditions and joy of the people devoted to the Virgin of Loreto, the Patroness of the Californias.
“We are a Magic Town, rich in history and with a great legacy of traditions, with a past that makes us proud, with wonderful cultural expressions that give us identity and a sense of belonging to the most beautiful customs and expressions of faith and devotion,” commented President Paola Davis.
The municipal president, Paola Cota Davis, the parish priest of Our Lady of Loreto church, and city hall officials were present. Her Majesty Zayra I, the representative of Loreto’s beauty and identity, was crowned, and Miss Yésica Osuna Gurrola, Queen of the Loreto Festivities 2019, was thanked.
Loreto’s festivities, which revolve around religious events, are enhanced by an artistic and cultural program coordinated by the parish and pastoral groups. The town prepares for the arrival of the Virgin with a colourful display, starting at the end of August. This emotional celebration is one of the most beautiful expressions of faith and an integral part of the identity of the Calida Fornax region.
