Miraflores, Baja California Sur, is a small town in the municipality of Los Cabos, located 45 miles north of the capital of San José del Cabo.

After five miles on a dirt road, you come to Boca de la Sierra, a small paradise that is still missing on tourist maps and almost unknown to visitors and guides.

The Sierra de La Laguna is a registered biosphere reserve. Visitors should take extreme care in this natural environment.

The journey to Boca de la Sierra from Miraflores is full of greenery and every imaginable bright color that combines beautifully with the deep blue sky.

Vehicles should be left on the side of the road leading to the site. A few hundred yards in, visitors come to a lake divided in two by a stone path that reaches the opposite bank.

The lake is created by the waters of the San Bernardo stream that flows down the slopes of a hill and appears in various gentle waterfalls. The stream constantly renews the water in the lake and the waterfalls constantly delight those who make the trip.

The beautiful landscape is surrounded by various species of trees that become a forest of black oak, pinion pine, flowering arbutus, and sotol palm. Mule deer, cougars, bobcats, raccoons, eagles and hawks inhabit the area requiring visitors to keep a prudent distance.

Clean, fresh air, clear waters, unspoiled nature and unparalleled scenery are all waiting for you at Boca de la Sierra, an earthly paradise that’s close by.
Enviable weather and surrounding organic farms and ranches make Miraflores a popular destination for ecotourism and enjoying the regional cuisine. Miraflores is located on the slopes of the Sierra de La Laguna about 20 miles from San Jose del Cabo on the transpeninsular highway. Approximately 2,000 people live here. On December 12th of each year, residents celebrate the festival of the Virgin of Guadalupe.
