Sabor a Cabo by American Express is a gastronomic festival that began as a small event 14 years ago by Canirac and that this weekend reminded us of how great it is.
Gastronomy plays a fundamental role in Los Cabos and becomes one of the reasons why tourists decide to come to the territory of Baja California Sur. That is the importance of this great event. Because it gives us an overview of what you can find of aromas, flavors and sensations gathered on a Saturday afternoon.
That was what happened when 80 wine houses and more than 40 restaurants delighted the attendees with a gastronomic offer like no other. There was everything from ceviche toast, beef tamales, “Asado al Cuero”, sushi, cochinita pibil panuchos, tacos, smoked fish, pitahaya desserts and chocolates and the best wines and cocktails, which made a perfect synergy with the dishes.
The atmosphere of happiness mixed between the music and the laughter of the attendees who enjoyed a different night, a night that showed us, once again, how magnificent this destination is.
The space of each stand and the proximity of these allowed us to visit perfectly each of them, were in a few seconds, you returned to the meeting point to rejoice with the creations of the chefs.
Personalities such as Rodrigo Cabeza de Vaca, Poncho Cadena, Chano Maria, Alberto Collarte, Andres Bracamontes and Jean-Georges Vongerichten were present to share what they are most passionate about cooking.
On the other hand, the different contests gave Sabor a Cabo a different twist and allowed diners to be even more connected with the chefs and the event in general because, for example, they could vote in 7 different categories as best pairing, best stand, exceptional service, and best dish.
In the Chef with Sabor a Cabo modality, one of the winners was Carbón-Cabrón, headed by Poncho Cadena. The stage where the chefs of international stature were cooking was in the middle of the event, with giant screens on each side that allowed attendees to see what was happening.
The stands of Baja Wines and other wine houses provided all attendees with different labels of grapes, countries, and regions. While Coca Cola, as an official sponsor, had soft drinks for minors.
Sabor a Cabo would not have been possible without the support of hundreds of people like the staff, coordinators, managers, and media, as well as the sponsors: American Express, Continuo Anthologie, ECOLAB, and the Los Cabos Tourism Trust, among other renowned companies.
At the end of the night, Maluma put everyone to dance, while Ana Torroja connected with the audience in a very special way.
Music, dance, drink, and food gathered in one place makes Sabor a Cabo by American Express the most important event in Mexico not only because of the gastronomic offer, the level of chefs and wine houses that attend, but it is an event with cause that is done for the benefit of the place where we live. Therefore, Sabor a Cabo is unprecedented.
See you in 2020!
