ATMEX 2020: Reimagining Tourism

From October 25 to 28, the Magic Town of Loreto in Baja California Sur will host the eighth edition of the most important event for the Adventure and Nature Tourism industry in Mexico and Latin America. The 2020 edition promotes a great reflection on how we should reimagine tourism, with sustainable tourism experiences and favorite natural places among tourists seeking to have a travel purpose.

Adventure Travel México (ATMEX) is a business and strategic relationship event dedicated to the regeneration, strengthening and growth of the Adventure and Nature Tourism industry through strategic alliances between buyers, suppliers and specialized media, as well as the professionalization of the industry through an academic program dedicated to sharing standards, trends, success stories and best practices in Mexico and worldwide.

The virtual format has favored by opening the doors of the forum to more than 1,000 delegates, more than 80 national and international buyers and more than 20 specialized media in the adventure and nature segment.

“Technology offers infinite possibilities to transcend time and space, to travel without a passport and to connect with many more people than we ever imagined in a single moment. It is the opportunity to use the tools at our disposal, to innovate and experiment together, to obtain the positive impact we must have on the tourism industry as a whole.” Antonio del Rosal Stanford, General Director of Genuine Experiences and ATMEX Coordinator.

The ATMEX platform is designed to provide an interactive virtual experience. It has also changed from being a three-day event to give access to the information of buyers and speakers 365 days all year long.

Destination Headquarters: Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico

Loreto’s wide tourist offer combines adventure and nature activities thanks to its contrasting sea and desert scenarios. This is one of the main characteristics that make it the virtual venue for the eighth edition of ATMEX 2020. The municipality is the only Magical Town in Baja California Sur that has an International Airport and the necessary infrastructure to held future face-to-face international events.

“Loreto is the destination for those who seek exclusivity, share the Loretan lifestyle, enjoy beautiful clear beaches, seas full of life, pools of clear water and canyons. We love travelers with an exploratory spirit, those who respect the environment and those who seek to treasure experiences. Loreto is the gateway to one of the most impressive regions to explore ”. Norma Beatriz García Gordillo, director of the Loreto Tourism Board

In addition to being an event with a broad academic program, special activities will be added such as the celebration of the anniversary of the founding of the Mission of Loreto.

To conclude, the Secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability of Baja California Sur, Mtro. Luis Humberto Araiza López highlighted that Baja California Sur is home to more than 43% of the country’s National Protected Areas and is the state with the highest number of Blue Flag certified beaches. For this reason, responsible tourism and sustainability is one of the priorities.

Loreto will be showing in all the public spaces of the virtual event, as well as in alternate broadcasts, but mainly at the business tables.

It is an opportunity to expose the natural and historical beauty that characterizes us!
