“We are interested in synergy with local, national and international artists.” Inauguration of ABC Art Baja in San Jose del Cabo.

On Friday, March 8, 2024, the second edition of ABC Art Baja opened in San José del Cabo at PATIO by ZⓈONAMACO. This year, the festival will occur in five locations, including Ensenada and Tijuana.

A preview of the festival, which is scheduled to run until May 5, 2024, in San José del Cabo, Todos Santos, La Paz, Ensenada, and Tijuana, was showcased during a VIP tour attended by curators, artists, press, and curators Juan Canela and Lena Solá.

Upon entering the Puerto Los Cabos Sculpture Garden, you can experience a temporary art installation as you cross the passageway through the bushes, leading to over 8,000 m² of green space. The fleeting nature of art can highlight temporality, impermanence and the unique experience of the moment.

Once in the garden, bartenders served margaritas and beer while the attendees enjoyed the outdoor exhibition of large-scale artwork, performances, and temporary installations.

“As an expectation, we want to strengthen the Festival in this second edition, to make it grow and have more people participate, especially the locals. We are interested in creating synergy with local, national, and international artists, giving them space to make proposals in the five venues the Festival currently has. As for the Patio, the expectation is to continue inviting artists’ projects, whether with or without a gallery, to have this space as an exhibition space so that they are not only exhibited alone but can be exhibited in these eight weeks. We have a significant market in the region, and we are interested in taking advantage of this tourist boom in the area”, said Asbel Ramírez, Executive Director of the Festival.
