Hall of Fame inductee Patrick Willis and Diana Flores, Captain of the Mexican flag football team, served as ambassadors for the event. It was a unique collaboration between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA).
It was a sports day during which 115 children and young people from the community enjoyed a special moment at the Bicentennial Stadium in Los Cabos. The Niners seized a significant opportunity to host a visit from two of their critical contemporary figures. Among them was Patrick Willis, a renowned linebacker for the Gambusinos from 2007 to 2014. Diana Flores, the esteemed Captain of the Mexican flag football team and NFL ambassador, was also present.
“We are committed to ensuring that our initiatives benefit the local community, which relies heavily on tourism. This clinic is an example of how our efforts can offer unique and beneficial opportunities to the residents of this beautiful place,” said Rodrigo Esponda, General Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Trust.
Members of the soccer league of Baja California Sur, through a call from the Sports Institute of the Municipality of Los Cabos, performed different exercises to test their skills of endurance, speed, tackling and catching passes in order to promote the development of the sport and the sense of community in the region.
“Life is about connecting, and there is no better connection than the one California has with the 49ers and Mexico. It’s always wonderful to spend time here, and I plan to come back very soon and more often,” said Willis, who is part of the 2024 class and has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The experience “A Day with the 49ers” was created through an investment of $700,000 over three years to strengthen the relationship between the NFL’s 49ers and a top tourist destination. Members of the American Football League of Baja California Sur, selected through a call from the Sports Institute of the Municipality of Los Cabos, participated in various exercises to test their endurance, speed, tackling, and catching skills. The goal was to promote sports development and a sense of community in the region.”
San Francisco 49ers hold children’s soccer clinic in Los Cabos
Gambusinos legend Patrick Willis shared his skills with the youngsters.
Over 115 young people and children who love American football had an unforgettable morning. They got a chance to feel closer to the NFL for a day, thanks to a clinic held by the San Francisco 49ers with the presence of the legendary Patrick Willis.

Willis, a member of the NFL Hall of Fame Class of 2024 and former 49ers linebacker, was joined by Diana Flores, the Captain and world champion of the Mexican women’s flag football team.
“The kids come out to play, have fun and are open to learning. The 49ers and California love Mexico,” Willis told the media.
