Standing Strong: Club Rotario Los Cabos

Club Rotario Los Cabos is committed to education as the path to a better future. In this line, we highlight the Scholarship program that supports low-income youth from elementary school through college. Investing in education aims to empower young people to become leaders and catalysts for positive change in our community.

“Becas is one of the most important programs we have worked on for over ten years. We started with ten kids and helped them from elementary school through college. It’s incredible because you see them in the pictures, and they started with us when they were nine years old. Now they are 18, and you say, “Oh my god, how can I pass the time so fast? ” Now we have 19 boys and girls on scholarship.”

Rotary International is an organization and service club that unites international business leaders, university professionals, and non-university professionals to provide humanitarian service in their communities. They aim to promote high ethical standards in all vocations and to help build goodwill and peace worldwide.

In Los Cabos, the Rotary Club is part of District 4,100, which covers: Baja California Sur, Baja California, Sonora and Sinaloa. Over the past ten years, the organization has experienced growth, and its visions and missions have evolved. The Rotary year commences in July when Linda McHatton assumes the role of President. The term is typically annual, but if there is unfinished business, it extends to two years

“The Rotary Club, worldwide, what it does are specific things, such as promoting peace, which is one of the most important missions; eradicating polio; helping children and mothers economically; providing clean water, are some of the most important things that Rotary promotes worldwide.” Polio is a viral disease that can result in paralysis and muscle weakness. Thanks to vaccines, it has been eradicated almost worldwide. As Rotarians, we contribute to Rotary International for the Polio Plus program, established in 1985.

How are the club’s values manifest in activities and projects?

The commitment is personal. As members, we have the quintessential Rotary pin, which distinguishes us as Rotarians and identifies us as good men and women daily. Practicing the Four-Way Test is a testament to our commitment to service: diversity, integrity, fellowship, and leadership

Rotary focuses on helping and creating a large-scale impact that benefits more people.

“Being a Rotarian is a deep conviction ingrained in me and will forever be a part of my life,” asserts Linda McHatton, President of Club Rotario Los Cabos. This organization builds bridges between cultures and continents to champion peace, combat illiteracy, poverty, and disease, and ensure access to clean water and sanitation. Join us every Tuesday at 8:00 am at the Puerta Vieja restaurant in our mission to make a meaningful difference.
