La Choca Fashion Show: a glamorous performance supporting a charitable cause in San Jose del Cabo.

Los Tamarindos in San Jose del Cabo was the venue for La Choca, a charity event that aimed to benefit the children and adolescents of Casa Hogar “Una Luz en mi Vida” (A Light in my Life). The event was organized by Sonia Falcone, a fashion designer, and Daniel Espinosa, a jewellery designer, with Vanessa Fukunaga handling the presentation. The event aimed to bring attention to the cause and raise funds to help children and adolescents in need.

The event started with a vibrant fashion show featuring the works of renowned designers. The runway, surrounded by lush greenery and a stunning sunset, showcased the designers’ vision, highlighting garments incorporating elements of nature and Mexican culture, specifically from Tabasco. The collection aimed to celebrate the strength and femininity of Tabascan women, with the participation of artisans from Mexico and Bolivia.

The jewellery designs by Taxqueño Daniel Espinosa, some in collaboration with Sonia Falcone, enhanced the pieces. Curiously, Iris de Montero, the mother of Sonia Falcone, also participated in this very special catwalk.

After enjoying the beautiful visuals, we indulged in a delicious cocktail. It was the perfect excuse to soak in the pleasant environment and appreciate the impeccable designs by Daniel Espinosa. We tried a range of drinks featuring Mezcal, including Jose Cuervo samples.

The cocktail was served after an exquisite dinner, which included a lettuce salad with sweet potato and goat cheese, fish in sauce with hummus and baked vegetables. A vegan option was also available: mesquite baked cauliflower served with traditional Mayan sauce (Sikil P’ak). We were served chocolate cake and lemon pie for dessert, accompanied by elegant wines.

DJ Light Show and singer Leopoldo Jimenez complemented the evening. An auction featured experiences and pieces of Sonia Falcone’s work to make the occasion even more unique.

The result was a memorable evening in which glamour, gastronomy and philanthropy came together to enrich this gala dinner, organized by Fundación AMA with the support of AprendiSer, DIF Los Cabos, Vanessa Fukunaga, Daniel Espinosa, Enrique Silva and volunteers.

A grain of sand becomes light and hope for vulnerable children in Los Cabos.
