12. Magdalena Island.
Isla Magdalena is located in Comondú, just 40 minutes from Puerto San Carlos by boat. It is the largest peninsula in Southern California, characterized by mangroves, dunes, crystalline waters, and shells instead of sand. The area boasts an incredible biodiversity of flora and fauna.
11. El Triunfo.
La Paz is home to a historic mining town where you can discover remnants from the nineteenth century, such as the chimneys “La Julia” built in the 1860s and “La Ramona” in 1980. Additionally, the town features three emblematic pantheons: English, Chinese, and foreigners who arrived during the gold rush. These relics provide a glimpse into the town’s fascinating past.

A town frozen in time, featuring date palms and the disputed “Cerro del Pilón” mountain, stands out with its rounded peak and a nearby body of water perfect for kayaking or paddleboarding.
9. El Rosario.
Ejido is known as “Las Gallinas” in the municipality of La Paz because of a legend about a gold nugget the size of an egg. Here, you will find the largest cactus sanctuary in the world, home to 50 species of cacti and the largest cactus!
8. Santa Rosalía.
The municipality of Mulegé was founded in the 19th century thanks to the French company “El Boleo”, which extracted copper. Among the historic sites in the area are the Santa Barbara church, which is believed to have been designed by Gustave Eiffel, the Mining History Museum, El Boleo bakery, and the Hotel Francés.
7. San Francisco Javier.
In Loreto, there is the San Francisco Javier Viggé-Biaundo community, which is guarded by the “jewel of the missions”. An adventure through the Sierra La Giganta mountain range leads to an oasis with a Jesuit mission you must visit.
6. San Luis Gonzaga.
This destination is located in the municipality of Comondú. If you plan to visit, June is a great time to go as it’s the date of the patron saint. On this day, weddings, communions, and quinceañeras are all celebrated together. There is also a horseback ride, and the traditional dish “horno de la sierra” is served.
5. San Dionisio.
A semi-desert landscape in Los Cabos offers stunning hiking, mountain climbing, and rappelling routes and a chance to explore the unique regional flora.
4. Heroica Mulegé.
Explore the charming municipality of Mulegé, where an assortment of fruit trees such as date palms, olive trees, mango, guava, orange, and fig trees flourish. Visit the historic Santa Rosalía de Mulegé mission, founded back in 1705. A curious fact is that every October 2, the three branches of government are relocated to a different city within the country, and it becomes the official capital for the day.
3. Coronado Island.
It is located in the Sea of Cortez in Loreto and has magical landscapes of endemic fauna and beautiful white sand beaches. It is one of the five islands comprising the Loreto Bay National Park.
