This is a tribute and farewell to Armando Trasviña Taylor, a member of the Constituent Congress of BCS and writer from Baja California.

Armando Trasviña Taylor, Deputy of the Constituent Congress of the State of Baja California Sur, a professor of language and literature, writer, politician, and social activist, passed away on August 2, 2024, in Guadalajara, Jalisco. He was the author of more than 30 poetry, short stories, novels, and essays.

Born in La Paz in 1933, the Southern Californian writer was interviewed in our first edition of Tendencia. We remember attending that meeting with total pride and gratitude. Meeting him personally and hearing his words was a dream come true. We fondly recall that first interview in which Don Armando told us that he began writing at 15, inspired by the cliffs of Rosarito Beach.

He lived in Switzerland between 2005 and 2012 and in La Paz and Guadalajara for the last three years.

He was married to Concepción Castro, daughter of Jesús Castro Agúndez, and they had Armando, Ana Cecilia, Martha, and Carlos.

Armando was a pillar of the community. He has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him but an indelible legacy of Southern California life through his works. As we mourn his departure, we celebrate the life of this man who touched countless lives in our community.

A tribute will honour Armando Traveña Taylor on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. The tribute will take place in the General José María Morelos y Pavón Hall of the State Congress. The ashes will be displayed throughout the day, and a memorial mass will be held.

In a private event, the mass and deposit of ashes will take place at the Parish of San Jose del Esterito on Wednesday, August 21, at 7:00 p.m.
