Nicksan Palmilla was the venue for a press conference on Thursday, November 7, 2024, where the organizers of Sabor a Cabo met with the local press to announce details of the event, which will be held on February 22, 2025, at Club Campestre San José. As in past editions, the event will be for a cause and will take place from 4:00 pm. It was also announced that tickets will be on sale in approximately ten days and will cost between 3,000 and 9,000 pesos.
The praesidium was formed by Carmen Carbajal, founding partner of Sabor a Cabo; Celestino Atienzo, VIII Councillor of Los Cabos; Maricruz Espinoza, representing the H. XV Town Hall of Los Cabos; Ulises Mendez, President of Sabor a Cabo; Paloma Aráoz, president CANIRAC Los Cabos; Luis Alvarado, representative of Sabor a Cabo; Juan Antonio Carbajal, Commander of the Fire Department of Cabo San Lucas and Jacobo Turquie.
“I want to thank all my fellow founders of Sabor a Cabo and tell them that we have practically changed everything since the beginning: we changed locations, presidents, restaurants and format, always in pursuit of getting the best results for the event. Sabor a Cabo has a very important mission for us, which is exposure in general to the foreign market and also to the national market, without forgetting, obviously, the local market. We want to take this abroad, and increasingly affirm the importance of gastronomy, as culinary tourism becomes more and more important,” said Ulises Méndez. He also stressed the importance of emphasising that this is an event with a cause.
Paloma Araos Wilkes, President of the National Chamber of the Restaurant Industry and Seasoned Food (Canirac) Los Cabos, announced that, as in past editions, renowned chefs, restaurants, wineries in the region, and local producers will participate.
Sabor a Cabo is one of the most anticipated festivals in the region, celebrating the local culinary richness. It is an event with a significant social purpose that unites the community around food and philanthropy. In addition to showcasing the region’s culinary richness, the festival has a vital charitable component, with proceeds going to local charities and organisations, such as firefighters and other organisations, contributing to the community’s welfare.
In this edition, the organizers hope to exceed last year’s expectations, with the participation of 32 restaurants, 24 wineries, 23 sponsors and more than 2,500 attendees, who came to enjoy the pleasant atmosphere and all those exquisite dishes and drinks that can be tasted, all in one place.
The festival was absent during the COVID pandemic and returned in 2023 at the request of the general public and restaurateurs, who wanted to have a space where they could come to enjoy and express their culinary art. On that occasion, the concert by the Colombian singer Juanes was a great attraction. The concert proceeds were donated to the firefighters, who received an ambulance and a rescue unit.
