After her first steps in Mexico in the film Dos veces tú, and the series Club de Cuervos, Barrera leaped to the global stage with her portrayal of Vanessa in In the Heights, the film version of the hit Broadway musical. This role earned her a Best Actress nomination from the Hollywood Critics Association. Recognised for participating in major productions such as The Magnificent Seven, directed by Antoine Fuqua, and A Man Called Otto, alongside Tom Hanks, García Rulfo has also shone in the hit Netflix series The Lincoln Lawyer. In Mexico, he recently starred in Pedro Páramo, in the production of the same name directed by Rodrigo Prieto.
