The 4th Paellas Festival took place last Saturday, June 8th at Sheraton Grand Los Cabos Hacienda del Mar, where 15 different restaurants within the best hotels in Los Cabos competed to see who would take the title of the best paella 2019.
The Hacienda salon was the ideal place to witness the 15 chefs who cooked the essential ingredients of this exquisite dish from Spain with their high-fire cooking. From beef, pork, sausage and to octopus, shrimp, clams, oysters and lobster were some of the ingredients that were scattered along with the plate!
The flavor of each of the paellas was different and each one was marked by a special ingredient, such as artichokes and lemon, where the attendees delighted their palate with innovative blends that only this dish can provide.
Nine judges, who could be identified by their respective black aprons, toured the terrace to check that the chefs complied with the required guidelines of the competition. Later, they tried the paellas without knowing which restaurant they belonged to, to evaluate and issue their verdict at the end of the night.
The restaurants also served delicious appetizers, desserts and, of course, Baja Wines participated with an excellent selection of red and white wine. The live music by the Twins group and the pleasant atmosphere made the evening a success.
On the other hand, it is important to remember that the main reason for the 4th Festival of Paellas is to support the Rotary Club Los Cabos that has the goal of helping 21 children and young students of limited resources in their education. For this reason, the event has a special stamp and becomes a moment of pride for the tourist destination when hundreds of locals, as well as tourists, participate.
At the end of the night, Armida Castro Guzmán gave a few words to applaud the great commitment that the entire Rotary Club team has with the young scholars.
Finally, Jesús Corral, president of the jury. recounted the winners of previous years: Sheraton Grand Los Cabos Hacienda del Mar, One&Only Palmilla, and Sur Beach House.
After the preamble, he announced the name of the winning restaurant 2019: Grand Fiesta Americana All-Inclusive Los Cabos. The very excited winning team received the recognition amid the applause of the audience.
