On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, during the Grupo Madrugadores de Los Cabos’s regular breakfast meeting at the El Mezquite restaurant in the Vidanta Hotel, Elisa Gómez Fong was the special guest speaker. She discussed the Centro de Rehabilitación e Inclusión Infantil Teletón (CRIT) Los Cabos, a centre dedicated to empowering children and adolescents. The centre promotes their autonomy and integration into society while providing support and resources for their families.
In her speech, Elisa Gómez Fong shared the highlights of 2024 related to CRIT Baja California Sur. During that year, 1,497 children and adolescents were cared for under the integral model, and 861 people were cared for through outpatient care, totalling 2,358 beneficiaries and their families. These figures reflect the centre’s commitment to offering the highest quality rehabilitation.
“We took our services to Villa Alberto Andrés Alvarado Arámburo (Vizcaíno), in the municipality of Mulegé, through the Jornadas Extramuros, reaching 175 people. In addition, we provide communication tools through webinars and informative workshops for parents of children with autism spectrum disorder,” explained Elisa.
During his presentation, he emphasized CRIT’s mission to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities and autism while promoting their inclusion in society. “Our vision is to create an inclusive country and to be a leading organization in disability and autism. At Teleton, we believe all human beings deserve the same dignity simply because they are people. Our work represents the unity and commitment of various sectors of society around a common social cause,” he added.
The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session, during which members of the Madrugadores Group showed great interest in learning more about CRIT’s impact in Los Cabos and its plans to expand to other municipalities. The attendees’ active participation reflected the community’s commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to the well-being and development of people with disabilities in the region.
