Celebrate Ocean’s Day!

Did you know that the ocean covers more than 70% of the Earth’s surface? Although it may appear incredible, it’s true. The ocean’s a significant part of our lives since the air you breathe till the millions of marine species.

In Baja California Sur, we have a few blue flag beaches, an international distinctive that represents a commitment with people and the environment. For example, Las Viudas and Santa María beaches have a certificate.

Global warming, overfishing, and the tons of trash generated are alarming situations for the beaches. Even though not everything is lost. Each time we are more people who feel empathy with everything that surrounds us, looking for the better good.

These are 3 advices to help oceans:

  1. Take sustainable decisions in the matter of food you consume:

Practicing sports fishing is one of the most common activities in Los Cabos. Habits have been lost and it is a danger to the species.

What can you do?

Consume what’s not overexploited. This way, you consume healthy and sustainable.

  1. Don’t use plastic:

Plastics are trash generators and contribute to the destruction of habits, it also catches and kills hundreds of sea animals in a year.

What can you do?

Always carry containers, water bottles, and your own cloth bag.

  1. Help take care of the beaches:

Every time you visit some of Baja California Sur beaches or when traveling, make sure to pick up the trash.

What can you do?

Always keep your fabric bag, use eco-friendly sunscreen, and do not interfere with the wildlife. Also, don’t remove rocks and touch the species.

Being in the place you are can make a great difference to the oceans. Lookup for organizations, help in every way you can, and, above all, let’s educate ourselves.
