The capital of the Californias offers unforgettably thrilling adventures that are impossible to resist. Remembering the spectacular cover of Summer Diaries 2022, we tell you a little more about our Mezquite Canyon adventure!
This site, 34.5 kilometres from Loreto, snakes its way through the Sierra de la Giganta, providing magnificent hiking scenery and breathtaking desert vistas with remnants of preserved creek channels, lush oases, and freshwater ponds.
During the dry season, the incredible Mezquite Canyon is one of Baja California Sur’s most picturesque undiscovered spots. With traces of the places where the streams formerly emerge, you can appreciate the desert’s climate.
The vegetation surrounding several ponds formed throughout this canyon is lush green and contrasts sharply with the canyon’s reddish sand.
As you proceed along the trail, it becomes increasingly difficult to continue without entering the freshwater that is crystal clear at some places.
As we travelled, not only did our laughter and awe reverberate throughout the area, but also the sounds of the Sierra and our thoughts, which inspired us to speculate whether the original settlers had once traversed the same rock walls we were now walking.
If you’re yearning for some adventure with vigorous exercise, you will not be disappointed with this natural spot, where you’ll undoubtedly take some great keepsake shots! Important: An experienced guide should accompany all excursions at this site.
