First Edition of the Loreto International Film Festival

On Thursday, February 22, 2024, the First Edition of the Loreto International Film Festival was inaugurated in the historic Plaza Juan María de Salvatierra. The Municipal President, Paola Cota Davis, pointed out that it represents a window to the seventh art and reflects the diversity and cultural richness of the state of Baja California Sur.

Undoubtedly, this is a significant moment for Loreto. It marks the start of a cultural tradition expected to endure over time.

“Through the cinematic works that will be presented over the next few days, we will explore stories that will move us, make us laugh, and invite us to reflect on the world around us.” said the mayor.

Rodrigo Mendoza, a Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro representative, attended the event. This prestigious institution shares the promotion of education, culture and artistic diversity with the X City Hall, headed by Paola Cota. This alliance strengthens the bonds that unite us as a nation and enriches our traditions. Enoc Leaño, the La Toba International Film Festival organizer, was also present, giving the event a touch of distinction and excellence due to his trajectory and dedication to film, theatre and television. Fernando Ojeda Aguilar, who serves as the Undersecretary of Tourism and the personal representative of Professor Victor Manuel Castro Cosio, the Governor of our State, along with Andres Barrera Peralta, who is representing the Mayor of Mulegé, and Edith Aguilar Villavicencio, the Municipal President, as well as other citizens who are passionate about the seventh art, attended the event as special guests of the Government of the State of Baja California Sur.

The mayor of Loreto expressed gratitude towards the organizers, sponsors, and volunteers for their hard work in making the event possible for the enjoyment of the people of Loreto and visitors from both near and far.

“Their dedication and effort are the reason we are here today, ready to enjoy a festival that marks the beginning of a new cultural era for Loreto,” said Cota Davis.

Congratulations! May your days be filled with opportunities to experience, create culture, and foster creativity.
