Sashimi Fest: Bigger than ever, in Plaza Mijares.

Beers, wine and mezcal, among other spirits, were paired with the sushi rolls the attendees tasted at the end of the press conference. The new edition of Sashimi Fest occurred on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Cattac, Centro de Atención al Turista.

The seventh edition will take place on Saturday, March 16, 2024. This edition of one of the most highly anticipated gastronomic festivals in Baja California Sur: the Choyero sashimi encounter. This time, the event will take place at Plaza Mijares in San José del Cabo, a change from previous editions. The “sashimeros” will compete in the Children, Student, Gourmet and Choyera categories.

You can enter sashimifest.com through Facebook or call us at 624- 212-0182 or 624-232-3756 to participate. The ticket costs 600 pesos and includes a welcome beer, sashimi tasting and the option to buy tequila, craft beer, mezcal and wine.

“We have always dreamed of enjoying sashimi, sipping beer, and chatting with friends, couples, and girlfriends while admiring the beautiful sea view. However, someone once pointed out that we can’t see the sea from the Sashimi Fest. So, I suggested that we go to Plaza Mijares instead,” said Jesús “Chucho” Montaño Avilés, the General Coordinator of the festival. Limited space is available for the expected two thousand attendees.

As in previous years, 8% of the event proceeds will be donated to the Los Cabos Shriners Club. “They are great friends, great carnal, great brothers, investing in the cause of underprivileged children,” said Chucho Montaño. Shriners International is a non-profit organization formerly known as the Ancient Arab Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.

The organization has qualified professionals in 22 hospitals in North America to provide medical services to patients from birth to 18 years of age. Burns, craniofacial, musculoskeletal, orthopedic injuries and sports medicine, rheumatic diseases, scoliosis and other spinal conditions, including spinal cord injuries, prosthetics and orthotics, rehabilitation and therapy, among others, are the ailments they support.

They also support families by assisting them with travel and accommodation arrangements, if required. Members of Club Shriners, including Dr. José Javier López González, Potentate of Al Atfal Shriners; Ing., participated in the press conference. Arturo Gómez Ortiz Past, Al Atfal Shriners Potentate and Medical Coordinator for BCS; Lic. Gabriel Fonseca Verdugo is the President of the Shriner Club of San José del Cabo; Prof. Mario Javier Herrera Vázquez represents the Potentate in Baja California Sur.

We are ready to once again immerse ourselves in this festival of culinary and artistic diversity, now more extensive than ever, with our defining local touch.
