Alvaro Blancarte’s pasion for art

The Art Master, Alvaro Blancarte, gave a conference to the public and press one day previous of his latest exhibition at TENDENCIA AVENUE. He talks about his new work.

With a smile on his face and talking about his life experiences, the abstract painter talked about his new series focused on the Xoloitzcuintle dog that will have an average of 250 paintings.

Alongside his life anecdotes, the artist explains what art means to him and how he could spend 20 hours in the studio painting, making true one of the phrases he shared with the audience: “Art is a sickness for which there is no medicine”.

From Culiacan, Sinaloa, Alvaro Blancarte was a teacher at the Universidad Autonoma de Sinaloa (UAS) and then he lived for a while in Mexico City until the 1985 earthquake made him moved to Tecate, Baja California, his actual place of residence.

His studio is below El Cerro de la Panocha and that’s where he spends most of his hours: painting, creating, and nurturing his passion for art.

Even at 85 years old, he states he was born a sculptor and later had his immersion to the painting world, where his collections are a witness of the amazing Mexican art, full of traditions and customs

Besides his passion for painting, he talked about his love for reading and he emphasized: “a good book makes your imagination fly, it nourishes your soul and, without them, he couldn’t have painted half of his work.

The book, A very old man with huge wings from Gabriel Garcia Marquez, has been one of the stories that have marked him and to this day he assures that “I still do not know what to do with what I read, I am full of concerns”.

His exhibition entitled “Dogs & Abstracts” will be exposed from February 21st in the hallways of Luxury Avenue. He invites you to find especially the work “In Search of the Dog with Stars” a piece made especially for Tendencia Avenue.

Alvaro Blancarte finished the conference saying “my story is just beginning”.
