After months of hard work, the tourist industry in Baja California Sur has opened its doors with the proper requirements, to show the world we are ready to welcome the tourism back.
The virtual conference was hosted by Luis Humberto Araiza Lopez, secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustantibilty; Giammarco Vela, president of Canirac in Baja California Sur; Rodrigo Esponda, general director of the Los CabosTourism Board and Mauricio Perez Salicrup, Head board president of the Los Cabos Hotel Association.
“We are working with the sanitarian authorities to incorporate specific protocols in airports and highways, and we draft a few rules which redefined a new form of mentality in how to approach tourists and maintain the workers safe,” said Luis Humberto Araiza Lopez.
Working to maintain clean and safe one of the most important tourist destinations of Mexico wouldn’t be possible without the work between the private industry and the government. Thanks to this enormous effort, we have been able to acquire the Safe Travel and Punto Limpio certifications.
It is important to remember there are six phases in the reactivation of activities, these will be a guideline on how to act in the following weeks. In the meantime, today June 15th 2020, Baja California Sur resumed operations in phase five.
In other matters, Mauricio Salicrup said: “There is no hotelier that hasn’t have a record of closing and opening of a hotel, and today is a historic day. We appreciate the effort of Los Cabos community, who live up to the expectations so this could happen.”
Giammarco Vela added that the perception of the service depends on the good attention of the staff, and how the dinner feels safe in the surroundings, this is the most important value to take into consideration when the first travelers arrive.
Finally, Rodrigo Esponda acknowledged three campaigns that are working simultaneously in the reopening of Los Cabos. The purpose, he said, is to showcase that we are organized to welcome tourists in a safe way.
- Local campaign: ¡Ponte una sonrisa! (Put a smile back on your face)
- National campaign Los Cabos Sí o Sí (Choose Los Cabos to travel)
- International campaign: Los Cabos Rules
In the end, they cleared the matter of the capacity of the hotels, which must reopen at 30% of occupation. These percentage will go up accordingly to each phase. The hotels’ rates have maintain without changes, but the message of trust and the united front to avoid possible infections have been reassured.
Authorities gave hope with this type of action. Thanking the community for the effort and perseverance was the way the first virtual conference ended.
Today is a celebration day for everyone: Los Cabos is Back!
