Sabor a Cabo Rural returned with the sunrise and a horseback ride, crowning itself as the jewel among Los Cabos’ gastronomic events. This year’s venue was the legendary community of La Candelaria, known for its country traditions, witches, and healers in Huerta Maijanui.
Edith Jiménez Moreno, researcher of Southern Californian gastronomy and founder and director of Sabor a Cabo Rural 2024, created the event to enchant visitors through the palate, sharing recipes from regional cooks.
The guests, eager to sample the variety of traditional dishes, arrived earlier than the noon start time.
Sabor a Cabo Rural is once again in the spotlight as the host of a gastronomic festival that celebrates the local culinary identity of Baja California Sur. She also had guest cooks from the towns of Agua Verde, Loreto, La Candelaria, Los Cabos. Each cook shared a Sudcalifornian recipe, passed down from generation to generation and carries a great lineage of history. Edith presented awards to individuals who received recognition for their culinary expertise and recipes earned through years of experience in the local culinary scene.
.“We are guests of La Candelaria, but it is much more than just the name; it is an identity, traditions, history, customs, and flavours. This event is a great opportunity to celebrate local chefs and cooks from all over the state of Baja California Sur.”, said Maribel Collins Sanchez, Secretary of Tourism and Economy of the State of Baja California Sur.
It was a wonderful experience to taste dishes from renowned restaurants in Los Cabos, all inspired by the local gastronomy and made with regional ingredients. Congratulations to the chefs! Keep spreading the word and learning about the culinary culture of Baja California!
