Baja California Sur Community Alliance (BCSCA) is a state-wide network of civil participants who respond to catastrophic emergencies.
Created in 2020 in response to the potential food crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the alliance is an organized private initiative that works in partnership with the business sector and in coordination with the three levels of government. There are no party affiliations or political interests.
Even though the alliance was created in response to the crisis caused by COVID-19, the mission is to be a permanent support network that is ready to be activated in an emergency or time of need. The goal is to ensure no Baja California Sur resident runs out of food and to complement health and support services with the necessary tools to deal with the crisis.
The community alliance provides three functions.
- Determine the need.
- Fundraise and provide communication.
- Procure, distribute and supervise the delivery of needed supplies.
This alliance demonstrates how a private initiative and an organized civil society can respond with accountability and solidarity so that Baja California Sur, united and strong, continues to be a prosperous, safe and healthy state.
