At Paradero Hotels, Todos Santos, architects Rubén Valdez and Yashar Yektajo created an oasis in the middle of the desert. This project focuses on highlighting the natural beauty of the habitat, taking advantage of the configuration created by the winds and the elements that shape it.
The experience is fully enjoyed in a place where nature, architecture and art come together. On the vibrant canvas of community, engagement and celebration, and in collaboration with ABC Art Baja, the Paradero Foundation inaugurated the Destination Conservation Land Art Exhibition on March 14, 2024, as an initiative to give back to the community of Todos Santos.
This place is magical for its desert-inspired design, steeped in the dynamics of the natural movement of the context. Hard lines were obviated, and instead, the contours of the topography were imagined as if they were formed by gusts. The result is a space that integrates divinely.
It is notable that only plants naturally found in the desert were used, which do not require additional irrigation or human intervention to thrive and maintain the desert’s magic.
Within the property, a waterhole creates a natural oasis as part of the ecosystem. Thus, the stream’s course provides an auditory pleasure that complements the sensory experience.
Gradual exploration allows you to discover secrets at every step. The desert reveals itself little by little to those who walk through it. The traced paths have a further attraction that allows you to notice the opening and closing of different places, like a great revelation.
The Destination Conservation Land Art Exhibition, authored by Rubén Valdez and curated by Enrique Giner, can be seen on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 4:30 pm, with guided tours. The invitation is to enjoy the tranquillity of the desert, immersed in the beauty of Paradero Hotels.
