Winter Wines

Winter is near and with it a magical time of celebrations, synonymous with family, friends, parties and, in the world of wine in the northern hemisphere, vines sleep and rest, preparing for another cycle in spring. While, in the southern hemisphere, harvests and lush green vineyards invite you to taste and enjoy the drink that we love so much, which is wine. Here are our recommendations for this special time.

Nothing better than bubbles for winter, a season of celebration and festivities. Perhaps a cava made mainly with Xare-lo, Parrellada and Macabeo. A Prosecco made with Glera grape, for a great aperitif. A Champagne from France made with grapes such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Menier, all synonymous of quality and the most exquisite wines that exist.

Sparkling wines are always synonymous of a treat, as well as an ally when pairing. A perfect example would be a cava with a delicious pork tenderloin and plum sauce; a Prosecco with a cheese and charcuterie board; or a Champagne that can certainly be paired with lobster or seafood, or the traditional Christmas turkey.

Sauvignon Blanc or Verdejo that in their lees process gain more body and unctuousness on the palate. They are excellent companions for dishes such as pasta, purees, stews, vegetables or comber, grilled shrimp, squid, tempuras, as well as other vegetable dishes that we always associate with this festive season.

We cannot forget the red wines, such as Pinot Noir with its delicacy and elegance; a Malbec with its enveloping aromas of sweet spices and fruits like plum, raspberry, and blackberry; or a Merlot, which is delicate but full on the palate, accompanied by notes of chocolate, perfect for these colder times. And why not enjoy a good Port that is an excellent digestif to close a delicious dinner.
