Experience the ultimate culinary adventure at Sabor a Cabo 2023, where more than 20 esteemed wineries and 35 renowned restaurants have united to offer an unparalleled and unforgettable dining experience. In addition to a live cook-off with renowned chefs, the event provided ample opportunities for socializing and sharing, culminating in a spectacular closing featuring performances by Juanes and DJ Alex Cruz at the after-party.
The distinguished panel of judges was composed of Club Vatel Baja California Sur President and Culinary Director of the Top Star Chefs event at Sabor a Cabo, Chef Edgar Román; culinary expert and veteran of the Los Angeles gourmet food scene Chef Josiah Citrin; and Chef Guy Santoro, a great reference in international haute cuisine, as well as in Mexico. The jury also included Marco Beteta, one of Mexico’s foremost authorities on gastronomy and a pioneer in creating restaurant guides in Mexico.
For the contest, participating chefs Ángel Carbajal (Nicksan), Guillermo Gómez (Sage), Gustavo Pinet (Don Manuel’s at Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal), Héctor Morales (Sunset Monalisa), Juan Pablo Loza (Comal) and Javier Plascencia (Semillón), had 25 minutes to prepare a dish based on Pacific bluefin tuna.
Eyes were fixed on the screens displaying the exquisite culinary creations; the skilled hands of the chefs moved with precision and agility as the audience eagerly awaited the winner. Between each chef change, gourmet enthusiasts eagerly anticipated the dynamics of the competition.
The time to meet the winner has finally arrived! Do you know who was the winning chef in 2023? Chef Javier Plascencia of Semillon restaurant held the golden “toque” in the air by winning Sabor a Cabo 2023. His dish convinced the jury of its creativity and flavour.
In addition to sampling the culinary offerings of the Club Campestre San José golf course restaurants, attendees could also access the wine-tasting houses provided by Baja Wines, located right in the centre of Sabor a Cabo.
The stage was filled with emotions as the directors thanked the attendees and participating restaurants, and, to enrich the moment, Juanes’ outstanding performance filled the scene with rhythm.
Sabor a Cabo 2023 successfully fulfilled its social mission by donating an emergency unit to the Cabo San Lucas Fire Department.
