The Second Edition of the ABC Art Baja Festival concluded with great success.

The second edition of the ABC Art Baja Festival has successfully ended, bringing a variety of artistic activities to La Paz, San Jose, and Todos Santos and adding two new venues this year: Tijuana and Ensenada.

During its eight-week run in five venues, Art Baja offered 129 activities. Meanwhile, PATIO BY ZⓈONAMACO displayed over 20 pieces in the Puerto Los Cabos Sculpture Garden.

With over 50 participating artistic projects, this cultural event has become a significant point of interest in the region, aiming to cultivate the community and promote culture in Baja California and Baja California Sur.

Each venue hosted a series of experiences and exhibitions related to art, culture, music and gastronomy in local spaces. Public squares were transformed through remarkable artistic interventions.

There were also events, such as the Art Walk at the kiosk on the La Paz boardwalk, which exhibited works by more than 20 local artists. Murals were painted in public spaces, notably by Aurora Covarrubias in San José and Elti Alejandro, César Perales, and Callie Herd in Todos Santos.

PATIO BY ZⓈONAMACO presented an outdoor artistic intervention program during the festival in the Puerto Los Cabos Sculpture Garden. This program included sculptures, performances, and brief pieces in dialogue with the natural environment. The works addressed various issues such as the history of whaling (Beatriz Cortez’s ‘Migrante’), the plastic waste crisis in San José (Chris Wyrick’s ‘Lado Oscuro: Plastic’), the overexploitation of the totoaba fish endemic to the Gulf of California (Miguel Fernández de Castro’s ‘The Lucky Totoaba’), and the relationship of the body with space, nature, and the desert in the context of the virtual era we are currently living in (Manuel Lozano’s ‘Tangible Illusions’). Additionally, a workshop collaborated with children to create the world they want (Adriana’s ‘Bordando Sueños’).

It has celebrated art, sustainability, and synergy between national and international artists and organizers, who live together in five venues and share common work. Long live art! Long live ABC Art Baja!
